2019
The South Tyrolean Artists' Federation is the organizer of the Literary Competition for young authors.
All authors living in South Tyrol or the Austrian state of Tyrol between 17 and 30 years of age are eligible to submit their works. Works which have not yet been entirely completed can also be submitted, as long as they evince an intensity in form and content and display strength, originality, and audacity.
The following can be submitted for consideration:
- Unpublished works consisting of short or narrative prose. No novels!
- They must be submitted anonymously, in the form of a PDF, sent to info@kuenstlerbund.org
- The submissions must remain unpublished up to the point in time (deadline) after which submissions will no longer be accepted. The winners of previous Literary Competitions sponsored by the South Tyrolean Sparkasse are not eligible to participate.
- A curriculum vitae must be provided separately.
Deadline: December 14, 2018
Information: Katrin Klotz, SKB, Weggensteinstr. 12, I-39100 Bozen / Bolzano, literatur@kuenstlerbund.org
The Literary Competition sponsored by the South Tyrolean Sparkasse is among the most-important awards for young persons in the province – and beyond. This is demonstrated by the high visibility it has bestowed upon past literary talents of the province, as well as by the fact that it has afforded them a platform and given them the confidence to continue along the path of writing and literature.
This competition replaces the Award for Secondary and Tertiary School Students of the Sparkasse Foundation presented up to the year 2017.
Spring of 2019: Selection and judging of the submitted prose works and press conference with members of the jury and the mentors
The award includes a monetary prize of EUR 1,000, and is also accompanied by coaching by an experienced mentor. The coaches will provide professional support to the selected winner(s) in their work on prose texts. The prose text(s) should be published, if possible. The provision of professional coaching is intended to enhance the sustainability of literary activity.
May – June of 2020: Presentation and reading of the winning prose text in the Literaturhaus am Inn and in a matinee in Bozen / Bolzano.
